Anti aging skin care products and wrinkle creams have flooded the market hoping to appeal to our base concerns about maintaining a youthful appearance, often at any cost. The myriad of choices is overwhelming and the challenge is deciding which product best meets our needs.

In order to make a well-informed choice in skin cream the consumer should take advantage of the ease of researching the product before purchasing it. Newspapers and magazines are obvious sources of information, as well as online websites devoted to specific products or overall product reviews aimed at educating the consumer.

Non-profit organizations that test these products under stringent controls to meet pre-determined criteria are often the best source of reviews for anti aging creams. Several are selected for testing and graded on their value and effectiveness. These consumer product review groups maintain their credibility because they refuse to accept advertising revenue from the manufacturers that make these products.

Product reviews by these groups often do not take into consideration the qualities and characteristics that are not immediately measurable, including how the cream feels on the skin, and the fragrance notes. They are also only able to test an extremely small portion of the vast quantity of skin creams readily available on the market today, which doesn't necessarily reflect the overall product line.

Sites that include user-contributed product reviews are often the most helpful in finding out what "real" people think of a particular product. You should be able to find many of these online sites by typing the word "review" along with the product name into any search engine.

Please take into consideration that these types of user-contributed reviews can be biased and unreliable if the skills of the reviewer are questionable. To alleviate this concern, reviewers are often rated themselves on their reviewing abilities. A good rule of thumb is to always look at as many specific product reviews as you can in order to get the most accurate overall product evaluation.

Health and beauty related websites, magazines and newspapers are another excellent source of information about anti aging skin cream products. Do keep in mind that their advertising revenue from manufacturers of these types of products might prejudice their view and subsequently their reporting.

The most direct and unbiased reviews of skin creams would come from your co-workers, family and friends. They will more often than not give you an honest opinion of the product and its effectiveness. Another option available to the consumer is requesting samples of the skin creams directly from the manufacturer or at a retail sales counter. By doing this you will be able to try the product yourself and evaluate it without purchasing it.

The choice of anti aging skin cream is a personal one. Researching the products before making a purchase allows you to make a well-informed choice using all the resources that are readily available to you. A well educated consumer is a happy consumer.
