Lead Generation through Email Marketing Still Works...and is Not Dead!   by Chris Robertson

in Business / Entrepreneurship    (submitted 2010-03-10)

Promoting a business involves a number of steps that are designed to lead you to qualified prospects and ultimately...sales. To generate sales, however, you'll need to start with some sort of lead generation process. Although lead generation through e-mail is often frowned upon due to the ongoing spamming hurdles, e-mail marketing still works quite effectively when used in tandem with voice broadcasting. Let's explore how these two methods together can create a powerful one-two punch in getting leads and sales for your business.

With voice broadcasting, you'll first need qualified phone leads. These can be purchased directly through a list broker, or you might decide to sign on with a professional marketing company that specializes in voice broadcasting and e-mail marketing to receive an ongoing flow of phone leads. The latter is probably best if you want to develop a long-term promotional strategy.

Experienced marketers can help you set up your leads system and get things going smoothly. You can gain knowledge from others until you're able to create a well-oiled marketing machine of your own. Professional marketers can also help you develop powerful phone messages and e-mails that will bring results. No amount of phone or e-mail leads is worth the effort if your message doesn't prompt the recipients to take action. You'll want to put your best foot forward when creating the first contact (phone message) and of course, your second contact, the e-mail created to sell your products and services.

Once you determine a source of qualified phone leads, you'll plug these into a voice broadcasting system (phone leads software). The system will automatically send your message out to all the phone leads. It calls them with a pre-recorded message and instructs the recipients on how to receive your e-mail for further information.

Double Opt-In - The Key to Safe E-mail Marketing

Once you send out your message using the voice broadcasting system, you'll simply wait on the prospects to opt-in to your e-mail list. You can potentially receive thousands of requests for your e-mail, depending on the effectiveness of your phone message. When the opt-in requests come in, these are folks asking to receive e-mails from you. This gives you permission to market your products/services to them. Here's how it works. The subscribers will initially visit your website and fill in a form stating they'd like to join your e-mail list. Then, they will receive a confirmation e-mail to confirm their subscription by clicking a special link. When they confirm, this is called "double opt-in." This setup prevents spammers from getting on your e-mail list and also protects the subscriber by providing this extra step. It is achieved automatically so you won't have to confirm each subscriber yourself.

You can initially send one or two e-mails to your list or an entire stream of autoresponders that will go out each week or every few days to keep in close contact with your subscribers. Secondly, take the list of contacts that open your e-mail (this is important), and give them a call. Thank them for opening your e-mail, and if possible, steer the conversation toward a possible close of the sale. These prospects are red-hot, Grade-A, top of the list leads that you can't afford to let slip by.

Of course, to achieve this, you'll need qualified phone leads and an e-mail marketing setup that enables you to track precisely which subscribers actually open your e-mail. Use a marketing company that's experienced in this area to ensure your phone leads won't go cold. With these two proven methods for lead generation and sales, you can transform your business in just a short time...so don't wait too long and let the opportunities pass you by!
