Did you hear any of these lines when you attend your network marketing meeting? We have the best product ever! This product is so good it sells itself! We have the best comp plan ever! Our leadership and company is the best ever!
Don't get me wrong, all of these things are crucial to your success when it comes to building your home based business. You sure do not want to try to build any business which is weak in any of these areas. Even though everyone is shouting their features all over the place most of them do not know the most important element when it comes to building a home based business.
In MLM, network marketing, direct sales, or any online business the most important thing is not the product, plan, company leadership etc... it is the marketing plan. It is amazing to me how many online businesses there are out there and how few of them train their people to generate leads and recruit members online even though they all have a website and expect their distributors to sign people up, order products, track their down line, and learn product features using the Internet.
There are many people that run around joining company after company in this industry chasing the next greatest product, plan, company, etc... and wind up scratching their head and wondering why they haven't made any money when it seems like everyone else is killing it. What they don't understand is that none of that stuff matters as much as the marketing plan.
A great marketing plan will supply you with an unlimited number of interested leads for your business. A mediocre product combined with a killer marketing plan ALWAYS does better than a great product promoted with a mediocre marketing plan. For proof of that just think McDonalds. Anyone can make a better burger than them but they are great at selling and delivering them. That is why they have sold billions of them.
Even if you had the best product ever you would not make money with it unless you learned how to market it or hired a service to market it for you. You could spend many hours learning about the product and the opportunity but unless you learned who, where, and how to talk to your target market you would never make a dime with it. A proper marketing plan would not only know where to find the right prospects but also would know how to give them what they want or need.
After you know who your prospects are and where you can find them and what they want you need to train on how to get in front of their searches so you will be found. It is much better for them to find you rather than you going after them. If you chase them you are a nuisance. If they find you, now you are an expert and a leader.
All of the industry leaders use a certain process for building their business online. They use a great marketing plan or system that generates leads for them continuously and then those leads go onto an autoresponder list where email messages have been set up to be sent to them that provide solutions to their problems. Helping those people builds a relationship with them and make them like you. People do business with people they like and trust and people join other people they do not join companies. Once you have built a relationship with those on your list you monetize your list by promoting products that help to build a business.
Even the smartest people out there will struggle with building a home based business or MLM until and unless they learn how to market their business. If you learn how to be found by interested prospects and convert them into team members you will be able to teach what you are doing and share the tools you use with all of your members so they will be able to succeed too. This is how all of the top earners are making their money building online businesses.
There is no business out there that you can start up and succeed in without knowing how to operate the business. If you wanted to open a bakery or restaurant or pizza business it would help if you knew how to cook. Do you agree?
