City-Traveling - How To Arrange Your Travel Most Wisely by Thomas Lechner
Having a normal job, it is not always very easy to get the best time off for your vacation. This is why you should plan it way in advance. Be ready, to put your time-off request in early for your job, best be the first person in your department. This all is very important. Once it is approved, nothing bad can happen anymore.
To work on your vacation plan, you have several possibilities to choose from. The most simple one for you is, to book one of the pre-made vacations, where everything is already worked out and you have now just to pay and book. But looking a bit deeper in the offer, you might not always be completely excited and thrilled about the package. Not enough variety offered and not enough extras included, which would give you more real fun and interest. Also just laying on the beach all day long, is not the best way doing it. So watch out for attractions, shopping centers and other exciting extras - like cozy restaurants, intimate cafe's, street markets and discos, which may bring you some additional fun.
What else can you do ... ?
Now here is something different, called City-Traveling.
Normally you know, what you personally really like. And you can also very easily recognize some decent travel spots, scrolling through a travel magazine or website. It's just, in the moment you see something good, you have to write it down. Keep the inspiring web page or take a good magazin home and safe it. Then, when it's time for you to plan for your vacation, you have already collected several great opportunities of your own interest. Actually you can create lots of fun for yourself, watching out all year long for all the different vacation destinations of your dreams. Just keep your attention on it perfectly, to not miss any real good travel ideas, pictures or advertisements you may see being around. Keep in mind, staying always somehow interested is the only way of getting it. That's how life is.
Time after time you may pick some of your collected data and dream on it a little bit. And the time will come for you, to work it now all out. You choose the most favorite one and look at all the attractions you can find. If it has for example a historical background making you so interested, then you can also additionally look through books at libraries and find your way to some more data. Work out how many attractions you would like to see and how much time you may need for them to visit, and what else you plan to do. Shopping, movies, restaurants, theater, or laying on the beach, do whatever you like. Then fill all the days you have available with the best choices possible. And you may consider renting a car.
The big advantage of such a "self-made" vacation is, that you are not getting into the big crowds of people and not all are doing the same thing. And you can enjoy, what you like most. Not too many people are like that.
But you can still do more.
Let's say you want to choose 3 different areas as an inclusion in your dream vacation, where you get thrilled just thinking it. Let's look at a map and see, how far they are in distance to each other, and how far is the closest one from your own home - and which is the best route, getting to all of them most easily and economically. If they locate in different countries, you may choose to replace one with some other great travel idea, being more close to all the others. This I would do, if I would not have as much money and time available. A long flight back and forth can together take longer than a day and might cost for you a fortune. The best way is to choose destinations being not too far from each other, so that flying time and money are not using up on all your reserves. If you like China, work out your trip for that. Or is it Japan, Europe, Argentina, where you would like to go to, work with your time and budget. And you are completely able being cause yourself about arranging it all for your own vacation professionally and easily. If you take responsibility, the real pleasure will be yours.
Now you look more closely for all the attractions, beaches, fun parks, whatever you want to see in an area and work out with all these information, for how many days you like to stay. As soon it looks most real to you with all the data you collected, then you can book hotel and flight. You may also get a rental car. Then pick up the next of your chosen destination areas, and do the same workout on that. You just have to get through all this paperwork, so you can finish it and book and arrange it all together.
Now here is something else, but it can be a bit tricky.
If you don't like to do all the above yourself, but you are fine to take a roundtrip together with other people, then join a pre-made Group Travel, I think the name is "Tours". This is another way of vacation adventure, where you are getting the booked entertainment all day long and you may forget the problem world around you and relax with it all day long. It can actually become a very fantastic trip, but still there is the risk of two non-optimal situations happening:
1. You are traveling with many other vacationers being on the same trip as you, and it is crowded and people try to make friends with you, and you may never be alone. You couldn't just say, please leave me out of your conversations. And it can get sometimes very loud and noisy.
2. It is most of the time a hectic rush, whenever you are all hassling to a place with an attraction, and you may have to visit areas, which do not make you interested at all. And when its coffee time, 100 vacationers try to find a seat in the same restaurant.
No, this is not as good as it sounded at the travel agency. Another problem is, who stays with whom in the same hotel room at night. This might be then another little organizational question. Though it can become an unforgettable trip as well, with big fun and relaxation, but then you also might have to really like traveling in groups.
