Masquerade Party Masks   by Dan Machine

in Shopping    (submitted 2010-03-06)

If you want to throw an original party, you should have a custom party using masquerade party masks. The masks are extremely unique in design and lots of fun to use. The tradition masks designed as masquerade masks are in a half face style. These are the masks, which generally camouflage the eyes to disguise the wearer. Most people think of wearing face masks around Halloween, but they are great for any type of themed party as well. The masks come in all types of styles from plain solid color masks to elegantly beaded ones.

You can also choose to make your own party masks. This would be a great idea for a children's party since children love mystery and adventure. You could help the children design their masquerade masks by providing them with heavy weight cardboard or construction paper. You could draw out a pattern for the mask for each child to cut out and then decorate the way they want to. It would be easy for them to use the glitter paints and colored glues that are available for your craft projects. You could staple elastic string onto each mask so it would easily fit onto the children's heads.

You could also make masks for an adult party, although most adults prefer to buy their masks ready made. If you cannot find the masks at your local department store, there are several online retailers that specialize in the sale of masquerade style masks. Some of the masks sold are created in other countries and then shipped to various buyers around the world. You will want to check on the site to see where the mask you are purchasing originates from to anticipate any shipping delays that might occur. You will also want to make sure you pay any custom taxes that might be applied to your purchase.

Most of the modern masquerade party masks are designed with a plaster of Paris finish. This gives them the look of a fine porcelain mask without actually being as fragile. You do want to be careful how you handle the mask as they can still chip and crack if dropped on a hard surface. The masks will come with a ribbon attached to the inside sides that is used for tying the mask around the person's head. The ribbons can come in all sorts of different colors, depending on what the colors on the mask itself are. The masquerade mask is a great way to add a little mystery to any party.
