You can also choose to make your own party masks. This would be a great idea for a children's party since children love mystery and adventure. You could help the children design their masquerade masks by providing them with heavy weight cardboard or construction paper. You could draw out a pattern for the mask for each child to cut out and then decorate the way they want to. It would be easy for them to use the glitter paints and colored glues that are available for your craft projects. You could staple elastic string onto each mask so it would easily fit onto the children's heads.

You could also make masks for an adult party, although most adults prefer to buy their masks ready made. Some of the masks sold are created in other countries and then shipped to various buyers around the world. Most of the modern masquerade party masks are designed with a plaster of Paris finish. This gives them the look of a fine porcelain mask without actually being as fragile.
