5 Great Reasons Why Estepona Is Perfect For A Family Holiday by Robert Griggs

Estepona is a great little town on the Costa del Sol that boasts an impressive array of things to see and do. Here we've compiled a list of five of the best.
1. Estepona Marina
Estepona Marina is located at the western end of the promenade on the seafront. This is a place to go to relax and to chill out. It's absolutely perfect for taking long walks along the shore, where you can admire the lovely boats moored up alongside it. During the day you will not find a shortage of bars and restaurants to pass the time in, and we can assure you it's a great place for people watching.
It's also fascinating to watch the fishing boats come back from their trips, which is usually sometime in the mornings. You can watch them land the catch, then ice it up before selling it. At night, the whole area changes as the nightclubs open. Generally the place comes alive after midnight and changes from a sleepy marina into a party zone which is very popular with young people.
2. Selwo Safari Park
Selwo Safari Park is one of the biggest and best safari parks in Europe, and certainly in Spain. Being in Estepona you will be ideally situated to take advantage of it, and it can easily keep the whole family entertained for one or even two days.
The park holds over 2,000 different species, including all of the favourites. It is semi-wild, so this is not your ordinary zoo. The animals are free to roam around their huge enclosures, making it seem more like a mini safari than a zoo. Indeed, you can take a safari tour with an expert guide in an all-terrain vehicle for an exciting and educational trip, as well as enjoying numerous walks.
The park has an African theme, and it also includes botanical gardens and a reptile house. For us the great thing is that it is very easy to reach being located just off the N340 highway.
3. Escuela de Arte Ecuestre Costa Del Sol
This riding school is one of the biggest in the country, and contains some of the best facilities on the continent. It is located in the beautiful surroundings between the Mediterranean Sea and the stunning Sierra Bermeja Mountains, and it is very easy to access.
It is a British Horse Society that is recognized by the Andalusian Federation of Horse Riding (FAH), and caters for all levels of riders from complete beginners upwards. There are junior courses for children, as well as more advanced jumping courses and riding courses. If you fancy a day doing something different then we certainly recommend you stop off here.
4. Dolphin Adventure
Going dolphin spotting during your stay in Estepona could prove to be the highlight of your trip. You will go in a group with a professional guide who will be an expert at spotting both dolphins and the wide array of sea life that can be found in these warm waters. You will almost certainly see the dolphins playing in their natural habitat, and because they are used to the boats they often come to play around them. Sometimes huge pods of over 200 dolphins can be spotted.
On some trips you can even get the chance to drive the speed boat yourself if you are old enough. And even if you don't get to see any dolphins then there's still the stunning views of the coasts of both Spain and North Africa to enjoy.
5. Funny Beach Go-Karts
The Funny Beach is one of the most entertaining places to visit during your trip to Estepona. It is located on the way to Marbella and will provide you with a whole day's worth of fun without having to spend too much. There are trampolines, miniature golf, video games, darts, pinball machines and lots more here, so you can be sure that there is something for everyone. It's free to enter and you just pay a small fee for each activity.
One of the main attractions are the go-karts, which are suitable for both children and adults. They are very fast and the track is long, so you certainly get your money's worth. There are also jet skis and banana boats if you want to get out onto the sea. And for those who simply want to relax there are lots of deckchairs and a pleasant restaurant.
