Born 1947 in Muskegon and raised in a trailer-park in Ypsilanti, Michigan, Iggy Pop began his musical career as a drummer in High-School. Although he achieved only limited mainstream success, Iggy Pop is one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. He's often referred to nicknames like "The godfather of punk" and "The Iguana". With this article I want to give you a broad overview of the impressive creative output of this extraordinary personality. Iggy Pop was/is a musician, singer, songwriter, producer and actor. He started his career with a band he founded with Ron Asheton named "The Stooges". He recorded four albums with "The Stooges": "The Stooges", "Fun House", "Raw Power" and "The Weirdness". He also recorded 19 solo-albums, here’s a list:

Studio 1977 - The Idiot 1977 - Lust for Life 1979 - New Values 1980 - Soldier 1981 - Party 1982 - Zombie Birdhouse 1986 - Blah Blah Blah 1988 - Instinct 1990 - Livin' on the Edge of the Night (EP) 1990 - Brick by Brick 1993 - American Caesar 1996 - Naughty Little Doggie 1999 - Avenue B 2001 - Beat 'Em Up 2003 - Skull Ring 2009 - Préliminaires Live 1978 - TV Eye Live 1977 1994 - Berlin 91 1996 - Best Of...Live

Additionally to that, six Iggy Pop compilations were released. He has also more than ten feature-credits in other songs, like "Aisha" from the band "Death in Vegas" for example. But as mentioned before he was also an actor and appeared in many movies. His film credits include famous movies like "The color of money" and "The Crow - City of Angels". Although he never relay achieved big commercial success, his impact on rock and punk music is widely acknowledged. He was the Inventor of Stage-Diving and Crowd-Walk. He's referenced by world famous bands like R.E.M and The Red Hot Chili Peppers in their songs and Kurt Cobain declared himself many times a big fan of Iggy Pop and the Stooges. He recently release a another album called "Preliminaires"
